At last, the cat's out of the bag and there's something to cheer about for all iPod owners. According to reports, Apple has took back it's word of closing the iTunes Music store, a store from where one could buy songs for their iTunes playlists or one could even find iTunes plugins; following the decision of Copyright Royalty Board of not increasing the song royalty to 15 Cents from 9 Cents. So, now the iPod lovers can breathe a sigh of relief as the song royalties, which one had to pay when a song was purchased through iTunes or other on-line digital retailers, has not been increased.
Earlier Apple had threatened to close its store if there was a hike in the royalty rates. Giving up to the pressure, the board took this decision, which was welcomed by all music lovers and it’s also believed that the royalty rates will remain unchanged for the next 5 years. Even Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr went on the record telling CNN that, “We're pleased with the CRB's decision to keep royalty rates stable.”
