Although the origin of the game is not clearly documented, evidence shows that ancient Greeks and Romans played many ball games some of which involved the use of feet.
After several centuries, the game was reinvented by the English. Football has evolved over a very long period of time and has branched out into several categories - Rugby football, American football, Canadian football, Gaelic football and Australian Rules football. Today, football is a widely-watched game and has fans all over the world. Little did our Greek and Roman forefathers know that their casual kicks would kickoff a world-famous sport!
